“Remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth” (Deuteronomy 8:18 NIV).
Yet God designed us to create wealth, to produce wealth; he designed us to be productive people. God wants you to be productive, and his plan for your life includes wealth creation — not wealth redistribution.
Let me explain the difference between capitalism, communism, and Christianity.
Capitalism says, “What’s mine is mine, and I’m going to keep it.” Communism says, “What’s yours is mine, and I have a right to take it.” That’s called redistribution of wealth.
But Christianity says, “What’s mine is really God’s, and I’m willing to share it.”
God wants us to provide benefits, services, and protection to others. He wants us to create opportunities to help people.
When somebody taxes you to help the poor, you don’t get any credit for it. But when you are voluntarily generous and help others, that builds your character. It helps you grow. Becoming more productive and generous helps you to become more like Christ.
I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD. Men crawl through their lives cursing the darkness, but all the while I am shining brightly. I desire each of My followers to be a Light-bearer. The Holy Spirit who lives in you can shine from your face, making Me visible to people around you. Ask My Spirit to live through you, as you wend your way through this day. Hold My hand in joyful trust, for I never leave your side. The Light of My Presence is shining upon you. Brighten up the world by reflecting who I AM.
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness,
but will have the light of life.”
JOHN 8 : 12
“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.
Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that
they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”
MATTHEW 5 : 14 – 16
And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory,
which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
2 CORINTHIANS 3 : 18
God said to Moses, “I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”
EXODUS 3 : 14
You Are a Work in Progress
Spiritual maturity is neither instant nor automatic; it is a gradual, progressive development that will take the rest of your life.
You are a work in progress. Your spiritual transformation in developing the character of Jesus will take the rest of your life, and even then it won’t be completed here on earth. It will only be finished when you get to heaven or when Jesus returns.
At that point, whatever unfinished work on your character is left will be wrapped up. The Bible says that when we are finally able to see Jesus perfectly, we will become perfectly like him: “We can’t even imagine what we will be like when Christ returns. But we do know that when he comes we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is.” (1 John 3:2 NLT)
Much confusion in the Christian life comes from ignoring the simple truth that God is far more interested in building your character than he is anything else.
Jesus did not die on the cross just so we could live comfortable, well-adjusted lives. His purpose is far deeper: he wants to make us like himself (Christlike) before he takes us to heaven.
